Our antique paintings gallery is constantly updated and keeps growing larger thanks to our constant care and research. We select the most interesting paintings from past centuries, mainly from European and Italian artists: the paintings come from different ages, from the 17th century up to the early 20th century,  made using a variety of different techniques.

Each piece must be somehow special, and you will see the results of our considerate work as you see our collection.

Even the subjects range from the 17th century Lombard  still-life to flower compositions of 20th century, from  ancient Capriccio with ruins, to countryside and mountain landscapes dating to the early 20th century.

Ghilli’s antique painting selection offers female figure portraits, marine landscapes, religious and genre paintings, unique original works, oil-painted on canvas or wooden panels, watercolor on paper or board, always in good age related conditions.

Our antique paintings gallery

By exploring our gallery, you will be tempted by decorative paintings, historical examples of past trends and styles. Among our paintings from the early ‘900 you will notice some of the best landscapes like Giannacini’s Coutryside with a Canal, a large painting that immediately gives magnificence to a room, or the beautiful Mountain Landscape from Silvio Poma, an evocative work with a very important size, perfect both for your living and dining rooms or for an important office.

The older collections include fine examples of Italian Baroque, like Capriccio with Ruins and Figures and elegant Still life with Flowers. All the antique and modern paintings in our gallery have been carefully selected and they are mainly framed.

Not only paintings

Frames can be sometime of different place of origin, can be of the same period of the painting or can be placed in a later period.  We usually present work sas we find them in private houses, anyway we can find the best combination of canvas and frames, thus let the paintings express all their original beauty.

Our antiques gallery can offer you antique prints  too. Engravings are precious and peculiar and easier to collect. Like paintings, prints too are made using very different techniques and their value come not only from aesthetic elements but also from their rarity, age, wear and condition.

Mid-20th Century Large Italian Landscape Painting by Ilio Giannaccini

Mid-20th century Italian landscape signed by Ilio Giannaccini, (Rome 1897-1968) a large oil on canvas painting depicting a rural landscape with a stream on the left and a pathway on the specular side, mountains on the background and a peasant resting with sheep behind a fence, on the left side of the painting.

This work is signed lower left by the artist and it is in excellent condition,within a giltwood frame, ready to hang on your wall. It comes from a Milanese private collection.

Large Early 20th Century Italian Mountain Landscape Painting by Silvio Poma

A large mountain landscape, an early 20th century oil on canvas painting depicting a mountain scenery, the Monte Rosa massif, in the Piedmont Alps, with snowy mountains on the background, a rural farm and some cows in valley in the foreground; signed lower left S. Poma (Trescore Balneario, 1840 – Turate, 1932), one of the most relevant landscape painters of late 19th century Lombard Verismo.

The Verismo (meaning “realism”, from Italian vero, meaning “true”) refers to a 19th-century Italian painting style. This Italian term implies extreme raw realism, without any interpretation.

This peaceful mountain and valley view comes from a private collection of a Milanese family, it showed a small canvas tear, as per detailed picture below, now restored. Set within a passe-partout and a giltwood frame, it is now in good age related condition, with some small canvas tears on the border, which could be restored relining an reinforcing the original canvas only. Anyway you do not see them since covered by the frame.

Early 18th Century Baroque Landscape with Ruins and Figures

Baroque Capriccio with Ruins and Figures, Early 18th Century Italian oil on canvas painting, circle of Alessandro Magnasco, il Lissandrino, in good age related condition.

The composition of the work focuses mainly on the ruins, observed by the Roman knight observing two beggars sitting on the rubble as to emphasize the decadence of the classical world. The sphinx placed on the pedestal seems to guard access to the site.

The painting has been lined and reported on a new frame. Has been restored and has some painting additions. It comes from a Lombard private collection and is within a later 19th century French plaster frame.

17th century Italian Lombard Still life of Flowers Painting

talian oil on canvas painting depicting a Still-life of Roses Tulips, peonies and Jasmine Flowers in a pottery vase, of Lombard Area, dating back to the second half of 17th century.

The work comes from a private residence in Milan, is in very good condition, polished and lined, within a later giltwood carved and painted frame with plaster fruits decoration in relief, dating back to 19th century.

Measuring 41 inches x 38″, the canvas – 50.5 inches by 39″ is the frame’s size.
